Data levels and products	Licenses
Level 0 data	CC BY 4.0
Level 1 data	CC BY 4.0
Level 2 data	CC BY 4.0
Level 3 data	Recommend CC BY 4.0
Legacy level 2 data	Recommend CC BY 4.0 ACTRIS RI Committee strongly recommend CC BY 4.0 to keep homogeneous use of time series, back in time. Open for the National Facilities to decide, when the contract with ACTRIS ERIC is signed.
Open from case to case	This will depend on the product, and need agreement with the collaborating data producer. The recommendation is to use the same as for level 2 data.

Licenses for Concepts Used by the Community

ACTRIS develops concepts where the aim is for them to be adapted and used in the broader environmental community, across all fields and applications as new community standards.

License on concepts: Decided case by case, with a goal for broad usage not necessarily referenced back to ACTRIS. For instance, the ACTRIS Vocabulary is licensed under CC0 to maximize adaptability.

Within the ACTRIS-PPP project, three deliverables set the basis for selecting licenses for ACTRIS data and software. Additional recommendations were made at RI comm meetings in 2021 and 2022.
